Advancing sustainability at a faster pace
We are accelerating the energy transition thanks to our portfolio of sustainable and circular solutions for grid digitalization
Our commitment
Our goal is to expedite the sustainability journey of utilities with our advanced cloud-edge solution technologies, thereby hastening the broader shift towards energy transition and the electrification of energy consumption.
This aligns with our clients' aspirations towards achieving a 'Net Zero Grid.' Concurrently, we are committed to ensuring sustainability in our technology development and operational processes, carefully selecting options that minimize our footprint on both people and the planet. In doing so, we support the expedited realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while simultaneously creating value for our stakeholders.
Circular Solutions
Our circular portfolio of solutions enables re-generation of resources, increasing decarbonization and electrification.
Sustainable Procurement
Our company encourages its suppliers to foster a sustainable supply chain implementing a circular value maximization. All our suppliers are evaluated based on sustainability criteria.
Shared Approach
We share a stakeholder and ecosystem approach, ensuring sustainability standards and monitoring across stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
How we enable and implement sustainability
Our company is committed to embracing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.
A sustainable strategy that supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
Our primary focus is on enabling sustainability for our customers and implementing it in our operations. To achieve this, we are targeting three of the UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”, and SDG 13 “Climate Action”. These goals guide our sustainable business approach.

Sustainability by design
To minimize the environmental impact of DSOs’ activities, our company has designed and implemented cutting-edge and circular solutions engaging industries and supply channels throughout the entire value chain.
Our Sustainable by design strategy will enable DSOs to promote Net Zero ambition and meet the main SDGs that are applicable to the power industry. Continuously investing in the research and evaluation of the most promising sustainable alternative materials available on the market, our goal is to identify materials that not only reduce environmental impact but also meet all the necessary technical and regulatory requirements. This ensures that our products continue to deliver excellent performance, safety, and reliability, while aligning with our commitment to technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
Our Open Meter is an innovative product that has changed the role of the customer: a second-generation meter that has been helping reduce the carbon footprint and is a circular solution. Part of the latest generation of Italian smart meters was realized using the dismissed plastic of their predecessors. Today Open Meters contain at least 50% recycled content that significantly reduces the emissions linked to the production of virgin plastic, while maintaining the high standards of quality, durability, and performance required for critical infrastructure components. This significantly reduces emissions associated with the production of virgin plastic, while maintaining the high standards of quality, durability, and performance required for critical infrastructure components.
Each Smart Meter is accompanied by its own Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which transparently details the CO₂ emissions associated with every phase of its life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal.
A second example of a sustainable device is the Quantum Edge® device, a revolutionary all-in-one solution that, thanks to virtualization technologies and high decentralized computational capacity, reduces the number of physical components used in processing centers. This reduction enables significant benefits in terms of installation and maintenance costs and field interventions, all of which translate into a reduction in CO2 produced.
Our Supply Chain
At Gridspertise, Procurement plays a strategic role throughout the product lifecycle. This has driven a significant evolution towards a comprehensive 360° Sustainable Procurement framework, highlighting the critical importance of quality and responsibility across our supply chain.
This transformation has been facilitated through the comprehensive training of our Procurement team, in collaboration with the European Institute of Purchasing Management (EIPM), and the establishment of a detailed Sustainability Roadmap. This roadmap underpins our Suppliers Sustainability Engagement Program, which encompasses:
- A formal Supplier Code of Conduct, delineating our expected values and ethical standards for all partners;
- An ESG assessment during the qualification process and audit of suppliers;
- The mandatory request for recognized environmental certifications, such as EPD and carbon footprint assessments;
- The incorporation of advantages within tender processes for suppliers demonstrating a robust commitment to environmental sustainability.
- The inclusion of contractual clauses addressing environmental, social, and governance aspects to mitigate risks and account for measured impacts.
Our program is designed not merely to ensure supplier compliance, but to cultivate our supply chain into a strategic asset that actively contributes to sustainability objectives. We aim to foster an ecosystem of suppliers who not only meet ESG requirements but also share our long-term vision for responsible and sustainable practices.
This approach operates on several key levels:
- The definition of scientifically validated decarbonization targets, following a comprehensive mapping of our Scope 1, 2, and 3 impacts;
- The integration of sustainability into our innovation processes, with Procurement acting as a crucial operational interface between ESG strategy and industrial implementation;
- The Gridspertise Suppliers Sustainability Engagement Program activates mechanisms to make sustainability both measurable and traceable. These include ESG assessments, environmental certifications, thematic audits, and the integration of sustainability-linked incentives within our tender processes.
The fundamental paradigm shift we are enacting moves beyond a transactional supplier relationship towards one of genuine collaboration, innovation, and mutual growth. Our strategic imperative is to establish sustainability as a cornerstone of shared competitiveness.
