Event
Indian Utility Week, co-located with POWERGEN India & DISTRIBUTECH India, brought together the smart energy industry to network, debate, and share new ideas and expertise. This year’s event hosted more than 8,000 professionals and showcased the latest insights and technology to advance the transformation underway in the sector.
The development of renewable sources and electrification pose a series of challenges as well as opportunities for India and the Asian continent. Indian Utility Week provided a chance to seize these opportunities and form new partnerships to accelerate the transition towards low carbon energy.
Attendees included experts from utilities, network operators, vendors, consultancies, and startups. The discussions covered topics such as grid integration, digitalization, energy efficiency, smart cities, financing, and regulation.
Where and when did it take place?
The event took place in New Delhi (India) from October 12th to 14th at the Pragati Maidan venue. It shared the exhibition spaces with other significant industry forums: POWERGEN India & DISTRIBUTECH India.
Our participation
What did we showcase at the event?
During this summit we presented several of our cutting-edge solutions that can address some of the main challenges for India:
Revenue Protection
In this field, we presented our latest generation smart meters and products such as the Head-End System (HES) and the Meter Data Management System (MDMS). These are tools that help to manage electricity demand in the most efficient way and reduce technical losses thanks to real-time monitoring of grid parameters. They are ideal solutions for countries that are accelerating digitalization while at the same time grappling with inefficiencies that lead to significant electricity losses.
Grid Resilience
To increasingly improve grid resilience, which is fundamental for ensuring stability and reliability, we propose the Grid Automation Management Solution, which makes it possible to deal with any interruptions to the service in a rapid and effective way. We also introduced the Quantum Edge® device (QEd) that digitalizes essential grid activities, boosting the agility of secondary cabins. This can play a crucial role in India, where strong growth in power consumption and distributed generation is expected.
Maintenance Efficiency
Promptly identifying vegetation and other elements that can interfere with distribution networks is key to guaranteeing grid reliability. Our Digital Asset and Vegetation Intelligence is based on a Network Digital Twin® which creates a virtual replica of the electricity grid and the surrounding environment. This makes it possible to predict faults and enables interventions of predictive maintenance.
Fast Response and Restoration
Digital tools such as Digital Workforce Management boost efficiency and reduce times in the field in the case of service interruptions, thanks to an app that maps the entire grid. This is an extremely useful solution also for training personnel using virtual or augmented reality.
Opportunities to learn about Gridspertise at Indian Utility Week 2022
We took part in the event as a Silver Partner. Our 30 square meter Booth C18 allowed us to display our solutions effectively and introduce ourselves to new markets.
Currently active in Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Romania, we are aiming to reach 30 countries by 2030, with attention focused particularly on the Asia-Pacific area. India is an ideal point of access as a rapidly developing market with national policies geared towards the digitalization of networks.
During Indian Utility Week we were able to explain our services in more detail to local industry operators. We also contributed to the event’s debates on grid transformation and innovation with speeches from our managers:
On Wednesday, October 12 (at 12pm), our VP Business Development & Sales for Africa, APAC and ME, Narcis Vidal, spoke about “How to Digitize your Grid to Face the Energy Transition. Meet your Trusted Partner Gridspertise” during the summit session “Net Zero by 2070 - Decarbonization Roadmap for the Indian Energy Sector.”
On Friday, October 14 (at 10:30am), our VP - Head Business Development, India, Rahul Chandra, discussed “QED – Quantum Edge® device, a smart Edge Device for creating the Smart Power Grid of the future” at the hub session “Practical Solutions for RE Grid Integration.”
